How to Get Those Tough Stains Out!
If you have tough stains in your clothes, never fear! You do not have to toss them out. There are some things you can do on your own to get them out before having to call in housecleaning services that offer laundry cleaning.
Here are some tips, depending upon your stains:
- For grass stains, use water and vinegar first. The pigment in grass does like to adhere to your fabric, but vinegar is a great way to remove it. Simply mix a bit of each, dot it into the stain, and wash in cold water. You can also use rubbing alcohol rather than water, to mix with the vinegar.
- Another tough stain is a grease stain. If someone in your family has dropped fried food on their clothes or perhaps gotten grease on their pants from a bike chain, use simple dishwashing detergent first! Squirt dishwashing detergent onto the stain and then wash as usual.
- For ink stains, the first step is hairspray! Spray it on as soon as possible and then wash regularly. Or, use rubbing alcohol on the stain. Either one should take it out in one or two wash cycles
- For one of the toughest stains of all--blood--make sure to always wash in cold. First, soak the stain in cold water. Add hydrogen peroxide and salt to your water. Next, remove the article of clothing from the cold water bath. Wring it out and add more peroxide and salt right onto the stain. Wash in cold water, never hot! Club soda and vinegar are also a good pretreater for blood stains.
No matter what type of stain you have, it is always important to use these solutions first, before washing. Remember it may take one or two cycles (using the above methods) before the stain is completely removed.
Of course, you can always take those stained items to a professional drycleaner, or contact housecleaning services that include laundry. The professionals always know how to get those tough stains out!
